The Northern BC Queer Connection Plan
The Northern BC Queer Connection Plan, also known as the QCP, is a three-year project funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada. This initiative focuses on building the capacity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and identifying service gaps. Our goal is to bridge these gaps by connecting community members with necessary resources and social support.
Embark on a transformative journey with the Northern BC Queer Connection Plan, a multifaceted initiative designed to empower, connect, and amplify the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community in Northern BC.
Resource Connection
Our commitment is to connect individuals with essential resources, ensuring the LGBTQIA+ community has access to vital support. By forging meaningful relationships and partnerships, we aim to build a robust network that addresses the diverse needs of our community.
Identifying Service Gaps
Listening to the voices of those affected, particularly LGBTQIA+ individuals, we actively identify and address gaps in care. This community-centric approach allows us to tailor our strategies effectively, bridging service gaps and fostering a more supportive environment.
Community Resource Engagement
Through community tables, gatherings, and events, we provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and collective problem-solving. This dynamic engagement enhances our ability to address urgent projects and long-term goals, creating a resilient support system.
Arts and Culture Stimulation
Collaborating with local artists and collectives, we aim to uplift artistic voices and amplify queer arts in Northern BC. This creative dimension adds vibrancy to our community, fostering diversity and representation through various artistic expressions.
"The Northern BC Queer Connection Plan" is a holistic endeavor, weaving together resource connectivity, gap identification, community engagement, and artistic stimulation. Join us in crafting a more empowered, connected, and culturally enriched Northern BC.
The creation of the www.nbcqconnection.com website was facilitated by the WAGE grant. This website acts as an outward-facing search index accessible for people to find resources across Northern BC. It also serves as a space for community service providers to discover information about other organizations without consistently updating their internal lists.
Our commitment to connectivity extends across diverse areas within the queer community. By gathering feedback, we create spaces for shared learning and development between professionals and community members. Aligned with our dedication to connecting care, we seamlessly integrate community engagement initiatives. This includes workshops, action tables, and an upcoming November 2025 summit geared towards empowering and mobilizing the community while fostering lasting connections and collaboration. We aim to create spaces where learning and development can happen simultaneously between professionals and community members.
The QCP actively collaborates with artists, musicians, and institutions within the community to accelerate arts and culture. We provide a platform for drag, the queering of expression through performance art, and advocate for more representation and opportunities for emerging 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, including those in painting, photography, film, and various other art forms. Our goal is to create a more vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape that fosters success and visibility for queer artists across diverse expressions.
