Adult Withdrawal Management Unit (AWMU, aka Detox)
Provides substance misuse management for adults (19+) through medical detox, integrated case management, family and community care management, education, recreational activities, and individual, family, and group support.
Located in Prince George. Support is provided for clients withdrawing from drugs and alcohol through a trauma-informed, harm reduction, and multidisciplinary team approach. The program also provides opioid agonist therapy (methadone and buprenorphine/naloxone) to those with opioid use disorder. The team, based on the client’s goals, will provide education, assessment, recovery plans, support, and referrals to community and treatment centers. Clients are encouraged to call between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM for admission inquiries. Depending on bed availability, individuals may be accommodated on the same day or the following.
For those residing outside the Prince George area, pre-booking options are provided. Admission timelines typically range from a day to a week. Transportation assistance is offered through the health bus service, with fees determined by distance. The unit is committed to providing a supportive environment for recovery, ensuring accessibility and care for all seeking assistance. Voluntary self referral is available.
