Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC

Big Brother Big Sister believe every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, both as individuals and citizens – that by doing so, they will not only do well, they will also do good.

They believe that by changing the course of young lives, they can in-turn change the course of a community’s future. That this change could lead to a reduction in poverty and unemployment, or to safer schools and neighbourhoods, or to a renewed optimism for growth. Big Brother Big Sister believe that children reaching their full potential could even lead to change on a broader, more far-reaching scale. They believe that opening a child’s eyes to what is – opens their mind to what could be.

Since 1979, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been making a positive difference in the lives of local youth by developing and implementing a wide range of mentoring programs; one-to-one and group programs, for both in school and outside of school.

Mentoring

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northern BC matches young people facing adversity with trained adult mentors in 1-1, virtual or group mentoring programs.

Mentoring is an important way to give youth experience with these essential back-and-forth relationships, developing them into healthy young people better able to deal with and overcome life’s adversities.

Child Care

Big Brothers, Big Sisters Northern BC offer child care programs to serve families needing full time, part time or occasional after school child care for their school aged children. Transportation is provided.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC Child Care Programs are fee for service options operated by, and in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC. Any revenue generated by these programs is invested back into the agency’s core programming to ensure sustainability and create the possibility for growth.
