Get Involved with the Queer History Project!

The Northern BC Queer Connection Society has received funding from Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) to launch a transformative Queer History Project. This initiative will document, preserve, and celebrate the rich and diverse queer history of Northern British Columbia through a documentary and archival materials, ensuring our community’s stories, struggles, and triumphs are remembered.

The project, running from October 2024 to March 2027, will feature:

● Documentary – Capturing the voices, experiences, and milestones of Northern BC’s queer community.

● Archive – A lasting resource of historical interviews, documents, photographs, art  and memorabilia. How You Can Participate

● Share Your Story: We are looking for community members to be interviewed or contribute written stories, memorabilia, photographs, or artwork for the queer history archives on our website and later possibly made into a book.

● Contribute to the Pride Picnic History Tent: On Sunday, July 6 at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park we will have a Queer History Tent featuring newspaper/magazine articles, photos, art, performances and more. We invite artists and performers to showcase their interpretation of queer history through art displays, performance art, or other contributions.
